How Chango Solved Its Design Bottleneck with ManyPixels

About
Chango
Chango is a free personal finance app for iOS and Android, founded by Alfred Junco in Toronto in 2018. The app helps people get a handle on their budgeting and spending through an interactive dashboard that shows upcoming payments, budget summaries, and bank alerts at a glance. What sets Chango apart is its focus on financial education: the guides and content inside the app are designed to be simple, bias-free, and genuinely useful, rather than pushing credit cards or loans. The goal is to make financial literacy accessible to people who find traditional finance tools overwhelming.

The Problem
Like most early-stage startups, Chango was a small team moving fast. Product decisions, marketing pushes, and content needs were all competing for the same limited resources. Design was a constant bottleneck. Every new request, whether a landing page, a social post, or an ebook, meant pulling a designer off what they were already working on and reshuffling the whole queue.
Alfred tried to absorb the workload internally for as long as possible, but the cost in time kept growing. Hiring more designers full-time wasn't a realistic option at that stage, and he wasn't willing to let the quality of Chango's brand suffer.
What we were trying to solve with ManyPixels was the overhead on our design end. A new design request would be needed, and we'd constantly have to tell the designers to reprioritize their tasks. So we were losing a lot of time.
The Request
Alfred first came to ManyPixels for marketing images to support the Chango app. After seeing the results, the scope grew quickly. Over the following months, Chango submitted more than 30 requests covering a wide range of deliverables:
- Landing pages and website sections
- Ebooks
- Social media visuals
- Infographics
- Print materials, including flyers and posters
For Alfred, one of the deciding factors was ManyPixels' portfolio. Chango has a specific visual identity and he wasn't willing to compromise on how the brand looked. Before committing, he checked the work carefully.
I'm picky when it comes to my design and how we represent ourselves as a brand, but I used ManyPixels, and it's perfect.
The Solution
The solution
ManyPixels gave Chango a reliable creative pipeline without the overhead of managing more headcount. The team produced social media content, eye-catching print materials, and three full ebooks that combined Chango's financial subject matter with playful, accessible design. Getting serious topics like budgeting and debt to feel approachable in print is a real design challenge, and the end result was content the Chango team was proud to put their name on.
For Alfred, the quality of the output was expected. What surprised him was how smoothly the whole process ran. Submit a brief, hear back the next day, see the result, move on. No chasing, no re-explaining, no re-prioritizing.
I would say what has exceeded my expectations since working with ManyPixels is, of course, always the quality of work that is being delivered, but I would really have to say it's the efficiency. Submitting something, hearing back the next day, and being able to see the result is perfect.
